Security Certificate Information
When applying for a job via www.armc.org, you may receive a security warning like this: 'Information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by others. The issuer of this certificate is not a trusted issuer--the certificate can not be validated. View the certificate to determine whether you want to trust the certifying authority.' You should be given 3 or 4 choices, one of which is View/Examine Certificate. If you examine the certificate you should find that ARMC issued the certificate. Secure certificates work through chains of trust. If ARMC issued a certificate for a non-ARMC service, then you probably shouldn't trust it. However, if ARMC issues a certificate to an ARMC server, you are good to go, as the chain of trust is unbroken. Most browsers, by default, only accept certificates as valid if the chain of trust extends from one of two accreddited comercial institutions: Verisign and Thawte. You can import something called a Master Certificate to accept other sources as the first links in the chain of trust, and then certificates issued from those sources are accepted as valid by default as well. |
