NEW MAGNETIC RESONANCE SCANNER PUTS ATHENS REGIONAL ON THE FOREFRONT OF MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS
New System Delivers Exceptional Imaging In A Wide Range of Studies With Quiet Operation And Patient-Friendly Design

The New GE TwinSpeed Athens Regional recently commissioned a GE Signa TwinSpeed scanner, able to deliver highest-quality medical images in everything from simple scans of bones and joints to advanced studies of the brain, heart, and blood vessels.

The scanner also makes MR exams easier for patients with Quiet Technology that reduces acoustic noise levels by 40 percent and a large opening (nearly two feet in diameter) that accommodates larger patients and makes scans more accommodating to people who experience claustrophobia.

The TwinSpeed Offers Zoom and Whole-Body Modes In 2001, the world's first TwinSpeed scanner successfully completed clinical trials at Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, California. Physicians there praised the device for its image quality, speed, and flexibility for a wide range of diagnostic studies.

The TwinSpeed Offers Zoom and Whole-Body Modes The TwinSpeed is a dual-gradient scanner. It is the only MR system of its kind, and operates in two different modes: a whole-body mode for simpler studies, and a zoom mode for more complex studies of smaller areas.

Doctors have the option of using both modes in a single exam. For example, a doctor may use the narrow zoom mode to identify a suspected cancerous tumor, and then switch to the wider whole-body mode to see if the cancer has spread to other areas.
