MINDFULNESS-BASED EATING AWARENESS TRAINING (MB-EAT)

This program assists you in changing your relationship to eating, overeating, binge eating, and weight management. This program also addresses the challenge of living with obesity. By paying attention to what the body needs, such as when it is hungry and when it is satisfied, you learn to develop a more natural, balanced relationship with food. Develop your innate abilities to pay attention to what is happening with your emotions, thoughts, and body sensations and how they affect behavior. Learn to respond to emotional and physical "eating triggers" rather than reacting to them out of habit. This National Institute of Health funded program was developed by psychologists and researchers at Indiana State University, Duke University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

MINDFULNESS-BASED COGNITIVE THERAPY (MBCT) FOR DISTRESS AND PAIN MANAGEMENT

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, or MBCT, is a program designed to prevent relapse in people that are experiencing depression and general anxiety. In addition, it will assist in decreasing distress and pain from most of medical conditions. Each group session involves training in mindfulness meditation and practice, group sharing and support as well as individualized instruction and guidance for using the mindfulness practice CD's, audio tape, workbook and textbook.
Ed Glauser, a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Mind Body Institute, will facilitate the program. Ed also leads our successful Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training and coordinates our Professional Mindfulness group once each month.

MINDFULNESS PRACTICE GROUP

This group meets the second Friday of each month from 5:30 - 6:30 pm and is free of charge. It is open to anyone that wants to enhance their health, relationships and enjoyment of life through mindfulness practice. For more info, contact Ed Glauser at mindfuleg@aol.com or at 706-202-3590.

PAINT FOR CHANGE

We welcome artists and non-artists who are looking to expand their inner horizons and open up new energies to attend. Meditate in color and experience the brush as a powerful tool to self-discovery.
Students can expect at the very least to experience a feeling of freedom. Being able to play with paint with no expectations or pressure can have an ecstatic element; a return to the freedom of engaging with color and line without rules as in early childhood. This brings freshness to the experience of professional artists and a feeling of new discovery to inexperienced artists. This class also provides a safe environment for students to express feelings that in most areas of life they are encouraged to hold inside and in this way provide a wonderful opportunity for enlightening the soul.

This is some of what past students have said:
'I realized that feelings are only feelings and not to fear them'

'That color and shape and the response to color and shape can energetically change one on a deep level; allowing a change in relation to issues without having to go into the story of the issue itself’’

'To draw out into conscious awareness feelings that need to be fully felt'

'I can express myself artistically. I never thought of myself as an artist before'

'This process has helped me to realize and work through many strong emotions and experiences both positive and negative in a safe and comfortable atmosphere'
