Reiki Testimonials

“My Reiki experience has been at the Loran Smith Cancer Center, which always feels to me like a safe and healing space. One enters the door and is surrounded by people (Bobby, Mona, Susan, Judi, et al.) who are dedicated to your well-being. During Reiki sessions and subsequent to the sessions I have experienced:

  • a sense of calm, of tranquil repose.
  • relief from the grief and sense of impending loss that a diagnosis of cancer brings.
  • a sense of recovery taking place, moving from being among the ill to being among the recovering (perhaps, simply put: hope)
  • gratitude for just receiving the energy and loving compassion of Reiki.

I was pretty uncomfortable post-surgery and not sleeping well but after Reiki I'd go home and have a very relaxing night’s sleep. There has been a lot of healing.”

“My experience with receiving Reiki has been an enriching and healing experience. I have had many sessions with Bobby Tyler, and each time my body and mind received a blessing. The Reiki session is very relaxing and there is a peaceful feeling that lingers long after the session is over.”

- Linda Kay Daniel

“For several years I had experienced pain in several areas of my body. Just as I was diagnosed as having breast cancer, an unrelated MRI showed in my lower back several nerves were being compressed. My orthopedic doctor felt that surgery was not necessary and that I should go to a pain management doctor. Yet due to chemotherapy having just begun, nothing could be done by using traditional medical procedures, injections into my spinal column with pain reducing medications. At my first Reiki session, with gentle music in the background, Bobby Tyler explained Reiki and that he would be placing his hands on my head and face, my arms, hands and feet during the session. As we progressed I became aware of such a wonderful sense of relaxation. Reiki gave me such a deep feeling of well-being. It helped to reduce some of the stress that I was feeling and greatly reduced the pain that I had experienced for almost two years.”

-Joyce Lambert

"My session occurred four days after chemotherapy, at which time I was still feeling some residual pain from the treatment. During the session, I felt the sensation of that pain being pulled from my body. Afterwards, I felt calm, peaceful, and pain-free."

- Janet Bond

"Reiki, and more specifically Bobby Tyler doing Reiki, is for me an island of calm and peace inside the storm called cancer. When I was told I had cancer my whole world shifted and it was not a good feeling. Reiki gave me the chance to reconnect with something greater than myself and feel like I was actively receiving healing. Even if the healing aspect of Reiki doesn't ring true for you, just lying still for an hour or so, listening to peaceful music, in the presence of a trusted friend is a solace in the midst of the fear and uncertainty that cancer can sometimes cause. I must say too that to me it makes all the difference in the world that the person doing the Reiki is Bobby Tyler. What a blessing that the Center found him and he is willing to do this important work. Cancer leaves you so vulnerable to the hands of strangers and until my doctors became my partners Bobby was a welcome and trusted face in a sea of unknowns. He has a calm assurance and a compassionate heart which always leaves me feeling hopeful and enveloped in caring. My only regret is that more people don't know about the benefits of Reiki, or that they only know a little bit and are hesitant to try something new. I would encourage you to try this wonderful service offered free of charge at the Loran Smith Center. I am so grateful to have this chance to express my gratitude for the wonderful job you do!"

“When I first heard about Reiki, I will have to admit I was a little skeptical. I went to the library, looked on the Internet to get more information and also made inquiries. Most interesting it turns out to be. Reiki has a sense and place of serenity. We live in a hurry and need something to give us peace and peace of mind. I found Reiki through the Loran Smith Cancer Support Center. The experience with Bobby Tyler (Reiki Master) was most informative and calming. It's a sense of being. We look for different avenues and turns in our lives. All we have to do is try it, take the time and feel and see the difference.”

- Joyce Black

“I have been disabled with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue for almost 10 years; I deal with pain on a daily basis. When I had the session with Bobby Tyler I was quite amazed that my pain was no longer there at the end of the session. This had been my first experience with Reiki. I would recommend it for anyone who suffers from the disabilities that I have.”
