 PIC Home | The Staff | Women's Health | Ultrasound | General X-Ray Computerized Tomography | Open MRI | Digital Radiography  The Physician's Imaging Center at Athens Regional Medical Center now uses a Digital Radiography/Fluoroscopy System to take high-resolution digital radiographs.The new digital system is superior to conventional x-ray machines because of the low radiation dosage delivered to the patient, and speed in which an exam can be done. This system eliminates the need for test exposures and uses a pulsed fluoroscopy option resulting in a lower radiation dose. The digital spot images produced by the system are more accurate than standard x-ray equipment, since the component that takes the x-ray is located closer to the patient. Because the equipment is digital, the images can be sent between computers for other physicians (i.e. referring) to view. Digital imaging saves time and money by eliminating conventional film cassette handling and reducing film costs. |
