Hope and courage through support and information

With the diagnosis of cancer, one begins a mysterious and sometimes frightening journey.But it is not a journey that you have to make alone. There are volunteer cancer survivors and professional staff members who all share in the cancer experience and offer insight and compassion to others on the journey. The goal of the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support is to work together with the physicians and other healthcare providers to enhance the sense of well being and quality of life of patients and family members.

The Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support offers educational, and spiritual support to cancer patients and families in our community. The Center serves as a resource for patients before, during and after cancer treatment by providing support groups, individuals and family counseling, educational seminars, and a resource library. All services are offered at no charge to anyone in the community. The Center is located at 240 Tallmadge Drive, Athens, one block down from the ARMC parking deck. Parking is available on-site.

Cancer is not just one disease it is many different diseases and it can affect the patient and family members in many different ways. Such as, physical effects, decisions about diverse treatment options, and financial consequences. For related information from other reliable resources.
