Going Home/Hospital Bills/Insurance

Your Discharge
We trust your stay at Athens Regional Medical Center has been pleasant; yet, we know you will be anxious to go home. Your doctor will notify you and the nursing staff when you may leave. You may want to make arrangements with a family member or friend to help you when it's time to go home. Here are some important things to remember:

Discharge Time
You are encouraged to depart as soon as your doctor notifies you that you can leave and the nurses have completed all their discharge instructions and paperwork. Your transportation should be at the North or South Tower entrance before transport moves you from your room. Then, a member of our Patient Transport staff will take you and your personal belongings to the entrance where your transportation is and will help you into the car.

Personal Belongings
Please check to make sure you have all your personal belongings before you leave. If you have items in the hospital safe, have the nursing staff contact Security and the items will be brought to you.

Discharge Instructions
Your doctor and the nursing staff will give you instructions about post-hospital care. If you have questions about your diet, activities or other matters, please be sure to ask at this time.

Medications
If your doctor gives you a prescription, it can be filled at your pharmacy.

Home Health / Home Infusion
Athens Regional Home Health/Home Infusion is a service of ARMC. They provide (under the direction of a physician) nursing services, physical, speech, and occupational therapy, medical social services and infusion therapy in the home to people residing in Madison, Clarke, Jackson, Barrow, and Oconee counties. Home Infusion is also able to supply Home Infusion medications to people residing throughout northeast Georgia. If you live outside the counties mentioned above, Home Infusion will coordinate with your Agency of choice in your area to assure administration of infusions. Several other home health agencies also provide services to these and other northeast Georgia counties. If you feel you may require or benefit from Home Health or Home Infusion services, talk with your physician, an ARMC social worker, or the nursing staff.

Home Medical Equipment
Home medical equipment is available through one of several companies which provide a wide range of medical equipment supplies and oxygen therapy equipment to patients in their homes. Ask the nursing staff for more information.

Satisfaction Survey
Following your stay, you may receive a phone call asking you about your stay. Your remarks and suggestions help us in our continuing effort to provide quality care to the citizens of northeast Georgia.
