Performance Improvement Leadership
March 15, 2004 - Athens Regional Medical Center was recently listed
in Solucient's Top 100 Hospitals for Performance Improvement Leadership.
"Based
on an analysis of overall U.S. hospital improvement rates between 1997
and 2001, the study identifies organizations that have improved across
critical measures at a faster rate than other U.S. hospitals. These
measures include quality of care, operational efficiency, and financial
performance."

Alliance of Community Hospitals:
Hospital of the Year
Oct. 28, 2003 – Athens Regional Medical Center was named “Hospital
of the Year” at the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals’
annual meeting on Oct. 23 at Callaway Gardens. Athens Regional won the
honor in the large hospital category (151 beds or more).
Athens Regional received the award for supporting direct patient care
through improving access for indigent populations, displaying innovation
and high quality in the range of services offered, and demonstrating
support from the local community.

Hospital Association (GHA):
Large Hospital 2003 Quality and Patient Safety Award
The
Georgia Hospital Association announced that Athens Regional Medical
Center has garnered first place for large hospitals for the 2003 Quality
and Patient Safety Award. Our submission was titled "Development
of a Systematic Assessment of Flow and Error (SAFE) to Improve Safety."
The competition was fierce in that there was a significant increase
in the number of entries from across the state, and the judging was
